Good Morning!
A few days ago, my personal account received a message about how deviantART was trying to "reward" it's members by giving away free ringtones, but only if you were a USA resident. I noticed that this same note had been forwarded to a few other members. I must have "ignorant" written somewhere in my account, because I don't know why else someone would think I would fall for that!! So anyway, the co-founder and I traded messages joking about how we should create a group dedicated to eradicating spam, or as much of it as we can. The joke turned into reality as of November 10, 2007 at 2:00 am Central Mountain Time.
We haven't quite worked out all the kinks yet, but basically we are gonna be posting art (anti-spam related) and, I hope, reporting as much of the spam as possible. deviantART is supposed to be about art and the freedom of expression, not about how many emails you can send out that day with links to outside sites (i.e. for "free" ringtones). deviants deserve a spam free environment!! Help us make it that way!!
**Edit: We love the support, and thanks to Kyra for posting about us in her journal as well! Spread the love of anti-spam. <3 ***

"Is it pertinent?"
"Not even close."
